BJJ WELL REPRESENTED AT STRIKEFORCE HOUSTON TONIGHT.

Strikeforce never seems to disappoint when it comes to booking fights with world-class grapplers.  Tonight's event is no different - the lineup includes the following grappling stand-outs:

  • Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza.  Legend.  Multi-Mundial Champion and ADCC Champion. Should be a tough match versus Tim Kennedy.
  • Andre Galvao.  Mundial Champion.  Pan-American Champion.  Violent grappler.  We like that.
  • Jorge "Macaco" Patino.  Macaco is a legit grappler (black belt) and a very old school, legendary Brazilian vale tudo fighter.  He fought the great Pele twice back in the day!  If you don't know these fights, then see below.  It's a shame he's pitted against the younger and probably more skilled Galvao.
  • Vinicuis "Draculino" Magalhaes. Another BJJ'er (Carlos Gracie, Jr. black belt).  I don't know much about him as an MMA fighter, except that I shouldn't confuse him with Vinny "Pazao" Magalhaes (the TUF 8 finalist ).  Same name, different nickname.
  • Jorge Gurgal.  Even though he seemingly tans and waxes his eyebrows, Jorge is a legit black-belt and now a veteran MMA fighter.  Hope he pulls off the upset over KJ Noons.
  • Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante.  Feijao is a legit black belt and he trains with Black House camp, so you know he's getting great grappling training (Big Nog, Anderson Silva, et al.).  Still, he mostly smashes faces.
Let's hope for some gnarly submissions!!
