My cohort, MMAOutlet Mike, and I had a damn good time at the Compella and the Twister show on Sunday night at the Viper Room in Hollywood (yeah, that's Eddie Bravo's band).

It's not every day that you see a grappling-inspired band - I swear I heard some lyrics about "tapp'in white belts"!

No grappling occurred.  But, they did have strippers pole dancers on stage (which clinched it as being a successful outing)!

[Note/Clarification:  Eddie is part of the RCJ Machado family and I have rolled with him once before (many, many years at Street Sports).  He has old ties to my coach, Renato, and many of my old teammates from his Jean Jacques years.]

  1. I recently met Eddie at UFC Fight Night in Austin and he seemed like a nice guy. I enjoyed training under one of his proteges, Denny Prokopos, in SF. Haven't heard Eddie's music, but looks like you guys had a good time :)

  2. Since I was there I will add:

If you haven't heard their music, I would describe it as "rap rock" for lack of a better term. Chicks seem to enjoy dancing on poles to it.

They're not going to sell a million records (or even a thousand?), but I don't really think that's their goal.

Joe Rogan is almost as short as Ariel Helwani is skinny.
