WRESTLING AND JIU JITZ: WE ARE ALL ONE.

Check out this highlight video of 2010 NCAA Wrestling.  Pretty badass.  It takes me back to my tight-wearing days of varsity high school wrestling.  The crash diets and binge eating; the use of Glad bags and spitting (with the help of Starburst) for weight loss.  Memories.

Anyway, watching this made me realize how much the 2 sports of wrestling (be it collegiate/folkstyle, greco, or freestyle) and Brazilian jiu jitsu and submission grappling in general (including CACC/shoot, Sambo, Judo) have in common.

It really is like Genki Sudo always says ...

Thanks to our friend, Christian Graugart aka The BJJ Globtrotter of ShogunHQ.com for pointing it out, and, more so, to Flowrestling.com for making  it.

  1. One of my coaches, Brandon Ruiz, is a Greco and submission grappling champion and his philosophy is "out-wrestle the grapplers, and out-grapple the wrestlers." I've said it before and I'll say it again...we BJJ practitioners can definitely benefit from the power, speed and agility that comes from wrestling training!
