MEGUMI FUJII VERSUS THE GRAPPLING DUMMY.

Megumi Fujii (藤井 恵) is to female MMA what dinosaurs are to regular lizards.  What cars are to unicycles (and/or roller skates).  What Seigfried and Roy are to other magician duos.  What miniature donkeys are to normal-sized donkeys.  I could go on, but I think I've made my point.

She's the best.

Once again, our transcontinental friend, Matt Benyon (The Grappling Dummy) has outdone himself with another great interview on the subject of Japanese MMA/martial arts.  For the unaware, Fujii has amassed a spotless 22-0 record with 18 wins by submission (no KO's).  She's widely regarded as the best female fighter in the world, and she's a submission machine.

Enjoy.  And, thanks again, Matt!

She also beat an old training partner of mine from way, way back in the day (late 90's training in San Pedro, CA).  Great fight (circa 2004).  Anyone know what happened to Erica Montoya?

  2. I remember Erica from the old RCJ Machado days. She was one of the first girls in the US to really get into the sport....and super cute too. I think the last time I saw her, she'd put on a shitload of weight....still cute though.
