UCHI OWIE!: A ONE-STEP UCHI MATA.

In my opinion, Uchi Mata is one of the hardest throws to perform in Judo.  It takes precise timing, positioning, power and speed to pull it off successfully.  Not easy against a resisting opponent.

But when you do successfully get the good throw, it’s like the world is yours.  At that moment, your opponent belongs to you at least, and you’ve just hurled him to the mat for the Ippon.  Congratulations.

To watch the master Judoka pull off the Uchi Mata using just a very few precise steps is a wonder to behold.  In this video, see a method to get the Uchi Mata using only a one step entry and some incredible Kuzushi.  I’m going to try this setup during my next randori session, but somehow I don’t think I’ll have the buttery moves of this talented Japanese player.

  1. That's Koji Komuro!
He also has nice jiu jitsu. Black belt, from Yuki Nakai, if I remember correctly.

    I rolled with him!
