WE'RE HITTING YOU OVER THE HEAD WITH GRIP KNOWLEDGE.
One of the great things about sport Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is there are very few rules when it comes to grabbing the opponent’s uniform. In general, you can grab a handful of gi virtually any way you want for as long as you want during a match. In a few other sport grappling arts, such as Judo, Kumikata –- or grip fighting game – is a highly regulated affair of rules, time limits and penalties.
In this video, Roger Gracie black belt Nicolas Gregoriades gives us some basics of gripping the BJJ way then demonstrates some standing grip sparring with his partner. The effective grip is the entry into grappling, so don’t overlook it. Your opponent surely isn’t.
