Here is an inventive technique to do just that, and gain four big points in a sport BJJ match. However, I’m not sure about why you’d want to go for the back in this situation. The way it’s demonstrated in the video, he has the Omoplata locked in, and there is little need to give it up to take the back. I’m confused.
Regardless, you might find this working for you. Absorb this information and see if you find it useful.
Wahhh???
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty dumb.
In the next video we go from rear naked choke to side control, for 2 points.
ReplyDeleteif you have the omoplata secured, why would you jump to the back? Why wouldn't you just sub from there?
ReplyDeleteEasy on the criticism, guys.
ReplyDeleteThere are some insanely strong people who just can't be subbed by omaplota, so I can see how this is a valid technique.
I do think it's a bit odd how there's no direct pressure on the opponent once you hop over - what's to keep them down or spinning out to get half-guard?
Well said, Tree Frog. On principal alone, I never allow myself to be finished by omo plat.
ReplyDeleteFarmer Burns was doing the Leg-grapevine-shoulder-breaker 80 years before BJJers were doing so-called "omo platas"
