COBRINHA AT 2011 ABU DHABI WORLD PRO.

Original Photo: John Lamonica for Graciemag
Legendary featherweight, Rubens Charles aka "Cobrinha" was a surprise competitor at this week's Abu Dhabi World Pro this week.  He competed at -74kg although his usual weight class it -65kg.  He made it pretty far, losing by decision to 3X black belt World Champ, Celso Venícius in the semifinals.

The word today is that Cobrinha beat  Claudio Calasans by a score of 4-2 in the Absolute division and will be facing Rodolfo Vieira in the final tomorrow.  Cobrinha!!

Note: Apologies for the mix up, grapplers.  I initially reported he lost and that was due to my poor Portuguese translating.

  3. Thanks Patrick and Bill. I read something in Portuguese wrong.

I guess being Mexican and Spanish speaking (more or less) didn't help me as much as I thought.
