NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE WRISTLOCK (OR THE DARKSIDE).

Wristlocks don't get enough respect and are often underestimated in competition. For those of you who don't know, I'm training at Alliance in Sao Paulo for the next few months. Alliance is a team with so many technical tricks, you would go insane trying to learn them all in a span of less then 10 years (yet alone a few months). But, for all their technical mastery, a certain black belt and Alliance team member, who will remain unnamed, can and will catch you in wristlocks anytime he so pleases.

Lets face it, it feels good to tap someone with a wristlock. It's a great technique that gives up very little position, and, honestly, I'm surprised it isn't used more often.

Good enough for Marcelo Garcia and Claudio Calasans. Good enough for me.

Take a look at some savvy wristcrankers from Down Under.
