AVANT GARDE KIMURA FROM BACK MOUNT. WHO NEEDS ROTATOR CUFFS?

Jiu Jitsu is popular stuff .  Nowadays, just about anyone can show you how to set up a rear naked choke or a kimura.  My morbidly obese auntie can do that.

Don't get me wrong, we love the basics and we extol their necessity for your BJJ development.  You must master them before you start getting fancy.  And, here at DSTRYR/SG, we strive to show you high quality and comprehensive material on all basics techniques. But, in addition to the basics, we have much love for the creative and innovative stuff - the boutique, after hours, extra credit kind of stuff.  With that, check out a funky and unexpected kimura from back attack.  I've seen and attempted (and maybe even perfected)  many a creative attack from the back, but this is new to me.  Intuitive and seemingly effective.  It also looks kind of dangerous too so pull carefully when attempting and make sure your coach's liability insurance is up to date.

  1. Catch Wrestling had this beat. Dead Man's Top Wrist Lock.

  2. I'm pretty sure the real goal of this technique is to get your opponent to make goofy expressions like the last guy. :)

  3. first of all, that's an americana. seems like it might work with a gi, but unless you control the wrist it looks pretty easy to get out of.. looks like a nice set-up to an armbar though!
