ENQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW IF ASHTON KUTCHER IS A LEGIT BJJ BLACK BELT, BUT A "YES" ANSWER WILL ONLY CRUSH YOUR FRAGILE SELF ESTEEM, GRAPPLER.

Seriously.  It's not enough that the guy is rich and famous.  He's also taller and marginally better looking than me with exceptionally lustrous hair.  And, now he's gotta be a BJJ black belt and steal my last bit of thunder?  When I discovered this photo of Ashton Kutcher posing in his black belt adorned gi beside Ricardo De La Riva, I almost felt sorry for myself.  But, then I thought about what Rickson would do in a situation like this.  So, I went out and did a ginastica routine on the beach and then challenged a couple of men twice my size to death matches.  I'm OK now.

Turns out Ashton merely borrowed this tattered black belt when he trained this week at De La Riva's academy in Rio this week.  All that Budo I had to muster for nothing ...

  1. Who the "f" borrows a black belt? No real BJJ practitioner would pose for a pic wearing a belt they haven't yet earned. And I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed that De la Riva would let it happen....let alone pose in the picture.

  2. Seriously...for the briefest of moments I was thinking, 'I could never bring myself to tap to Aston Kutcher...ever."

Then I thought about the BB's in my schools and my rolls with them that resulted in them choking me unconscious or tapping me via every joint on my body.

Lastly, I put it together and thought, "holly shit, Aston Kutcher could tap me out...damn."

Thank god it was just a bad dream.

  3. ...So does he actually train? What belt is he when he isn't borrowing black belts for pictures?

  5. The belt is a substitute for his red kabbalah string bracelet. When he wears the belt, it brings him magical bjj powers.

  6. This made me THROW UP.

Could someone please get an interview with SOMEONE associated with this picture and get some facts, please? Or my respect for DLR will plummet...

  7. Sadly more and more BJJ academy's are pulling publicity stunts such as this to garner attention to the school.
If you ask me, shit like this is a fucking sell out.
Someone random should call out these shananigans and challenge Ashton. Del le Riva should help make it happen.

  9. Hey, he did grow up as a Wrestler in Iowa.. He would probably transition into BJJ quite well.

  10. De la Riva doesnt need that kind of publicity, he might just be getting into the role of a black belt in near future and acting it out with real black belts
