SURPRISE, TITO ORTIZ NABS THE LONE SUBMISSION OF UFC 132.

I'm not sure what was more surprising, watching Tito Ortiz submit Ryan Bader with a proper guillotine choke less than 2 minutes in to Round One of their fight this Saturday at UFC 132, or realizing Tito's got some advanced male pattern baldness going on.  I think it's the latter.  I just assumed homie was sporting a full head of hair until all was revealed last night.  I'm still taking it all in.

Last night, the 36-year old former UFC champ and marquee MMA fighter proved he's still relevant in the MMA game.  I admit, I doubted that he had kind of win in him, but he proved me wrong.  Still, I was wise enough to bet on him to win (against a teammate) and now I'm a whole Five Dollar Footlong richer.  I talked to a few people leading up to this fight, and I noticed many MMA fans who weren't around to see Tito's rise back in the late nineties don't have much respect for him or his career.  My thoughts on him are quite different, having watched him come up in the SoCal underground (Neutral Grounds in Harbor City) scene and seeing him become huge in the UFC.  I still vividly remember watching his epic fight in '99 against Frank Shamrock on pay per view with my grappling buddies.

Mad respect for/props to Tito, despite his seemingly crazy tabloid life and sometimes excessively arrogant behavior.  He won and won big ... and he did it with Jui Jitsu.
