AN IMPOSSIBILY SLICK MOUNT ESCAPE FROM THE GREAT JJ MACHADO.

I've never rolled with Jean Jacques Machado.  I can only imagine it would result in many moments of confusion on my part combined with flawlessly executed technique on his part, resulting in embarrassing tapping (on my part, of course).  I place Prof. Jean Jacques at the very top of the small heap of gifted and brilliant master of the sport, both and knowledge and ability.

I admit, I'm biased.  My coach, Renato Magno, who came up with and worked with the RCJ Machado family and worked with them for many years has always spoken volumes of JJM's mastery and skill level.  But, I believe it's pretty much a universal fact that he's on another level. We kneel before the man (figuratively)

So, watch and learn a super trick mount/side control escape and counter.  This is real voodoo, jedi, nuanced stuff.  I know after a lot of drilling, for me, this is gonna remain a little iffy.  JJM is just so flexible and dextrous, he makes it look easy.  Try it and report back.  Either way, this approach/game demo'd is a winner.

  1. Wow, slick move. I'll try it but I kind of agree with you that it's probably one of those moves that even a lot of drilling won't perfect. Good find though :o)

  2. If you drill it enough, you'll be fine. You got to believe you can master it before you can. He makes it look so easy (it is pretty simple though) because he has most likely drilled it hundreds of times. Probably an exaggerated number, but it wouldn't surprise me. Just go for it and practice, practice.
