Carlson Gracie may just be the most influential Gracie of them all. Yet many, both inside and out of the sport, fail to recognize his contributions. His split with the Gracie teaching methodology lead him to create a competition team that was both very aggressive and very dominant in BJJ and in MMA. His students are a "Whos Who" list of world champions, MMA Champions and world class coaches. They include Allan Goes, Murilo Bustamante, Mario Sperry, Wallid Ismail, Pablo Popovitch, Andre Pederneiras, Ricardo Liborio, Marcus Soares, Rodrigo Medeiros, Rey Diogo, Marcelo Alonso, Ricardo De la Riva - and those are only a few of the amazing athletes he produced. He also spawned an amazing son with sick Jiu Jitsu skills named Carlson Gracie Jr. Junior is a 10 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion, he has 6 Greco-Roman wrestling championships and currently holds a 5th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and first Dan black belt in Judo. Check out this great interview with Carlson Jr. brought to us by Jits Magazine, in which he talks about growing up at the academy, teaching, and competing. All things that will make you feel even more like crap after your glutinous Thanksgiving weekend face stuffing.
