MANLY IN THE STREETS AND A FREAK ON THE MAT.

Martial arts are probably the most important thing in the world to me; I can honestly say they changed my life in many ways. For some, martial arts provides a great social forum for interaction, others enjoy the health benefits or competition aspects. All too often instructors and students spend years of their life dedicated to learning specific kata that sometimes has no real world application. To me, just about any form of martial arts can provide positive life attributes, but possibly the most important of them all is the ability to intelligently defend yourself and your loved ones. And No, I'm not trying to sell you a Blue Belt and DVD set of Gracie Combatives.

Watch the CSW trained instructors at the North American Self Defense Institute mix grappling styles that can be used both on the mat and in the street. Check out two great defensive techniques from a tackle, the first is a kimura shoulder lock and the second is a takedown using whizzer control. Don't forget kids, Protect ya neck - arms, legs and any other appendage when messing with a grappler.
