NOW WATCH RAFAEL MENDES KILLING IT AT IBJJF HOUSTON OPEN.

Maybe all that heart monitoring and plyometric jumping really works (even without the giant rope swinging) .

Rafael Mendes is without any doubt the best in the in world in his weight class.  We know this because he's winning Worlds and ADCC consistently.  With the utmost respect to his opponent in the video below (Andre Monteiro, who himself is a legit top-level competitor [2011 Pan No-Gi gold]), I think what we are seeing is a widening of the gap between the pros and the ultra-pros

Mendes can only be defeated by another ├╝ber-professional (e.g., Cobrinha, maybe).

  1. Cobrinha has had his fare share of tries at Rafa, no chance. The only guy I see out there might be Tanquinho, but he will have to be in a very good day

  2. Monteiro had a rough tournament. JT Torres took him apart in under 2 minutes, himself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BTkAvp89dI

  3. Tanquinho defeated Rafa once in abu dhabi Pro, and Rafa beat him in Worlds 2011 final.
    Both matches were extremely close.

anyway, no love for Gui ? he just dominated and choked out a world champion.
