Marcello Monteiro is a BJJ Black Belt and former student of the legendary Ricardo De la Riva. He now runs his own academy The Indianapolis Jiu Jitsu Academy in Indianapolis, Indiana. As you can imagine he is well versed in the intricacies of the DLR guard, and today he shares a beautifully simple reverse DLR sweep. I sometimes consider the De La Riva "system" the rubix cube of BJJ. (No not that Rubix Cube) While it is seemingly a simple multi-colored block of plastic, the details behind solving the puzzle are often unachievable. Much like the guard, you can make your sweeps and submissions as simple or as complicated as needed. You can also spend a lifetime unraveling yourself from the clench of hooks and grips. So check out this great DLR sweep and put it to good use!
