THE ALMOST TRIUMPHANT RETURN OF TARSIS HUMPHREYS AT WPJJC, GRAMADO, BRASIL..
If there was such a thing as a BJJ fan favorite, it would be Tarsis Humphreys. For years, the dude has brought the perfect combination of beast mode and technical BJJ to the big tournaments. He won Worlds until 2010, when he beat Romulo Barral in the final and in the process severely damaged Romulo's knee (he would not tap). He also has, hands down, the most badass beard in the BJJ biz. There is nothing more to say.
Tarsis was out of commission for the better part of a year due to his own knee injury, but now he's back. He made a run for the WPJJC Trials title at Gramado, Brasil this past weekend, coming up short against Alexandra de Souza. Still, let's hope he comes on strong at Pan Ams and Worlds in the coming months.
Watch his very tough match versus Ceconi. Tarsis admitted that he struggled through this one, barely eking out a victory.
