Last week, we featured a pretty sweet video from the bros at Jits Magazine in which Robert Drysdale demo'd some tricky alternatives to the rear naked choke as well as some advanced positioning for getting the choke (against an unwilling opponent). Our understanding is that it was filmed at Toronto No Gi (it's in Toronto, CAN, Einstein). Drysdale's epic training partner in the video below and in last week's video is Ian Freemantle, one of the owners at Toronto No Gi (or, TNG, as we've now named it) and a long time student under both Eddie Bravo and Chris Brennan.
For reasons unknown, the video from last week has been removed from YouTube. We can only speculate that this is part of a global Canadian conspiracy to thwart clever and, dare we say, fancy rear naked choke techniques from being spread to the rest of the world. We're not sure if Drysdale played a part in this or if he was just a pawn in a deadly game. Again, we're speculating (but, it's the only logical answer).
What we do know if that Robert and Ian are back. Robert is really good at choking the sh*t out of people from the back position. Ian is good at receiving these chokes well in these demos. And, we all benefit ... for now.
