Craig Kukuk back in the day.

For those of us who are grappling enthusiasts or who've just have been in the game for a very long time, you'll recognize the name Craig Kukuk. Craig is a legend; he was the FIRST, yes the first, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt in the United States. He received his black belt from Royler Gracie back in '92 and trained extensively in Brazil. Most grapplers recognize the name from being paired with Renzo in one of the first BJJ tutorials entitled Renzo Gracie / Craig Kukuk Jiu Jitsu. After many years on his own, Craig now focuses the majority of his grappling on No Gi submission wrestling and providing lessons via the web.

Check out Craig's solution for an arm drag attempt from within an opponent's guard and use it on those weak and pitiful white belts tonight.

A note from DSTRYR/SG:  Re the banner image above, no disrespect was intended toward Ru Paul or his/her aficionados.

  1. Took me a minute to get it, but the Ron/Ru Paul gag is pure awesomeness!

  2. How about an interview with Craig? A lot of us remember him from way back and it would be great to see what he is up to.

  3. If you want to interview craig let me know I train with him in Meridian Idaho. You can call or email me and I'd be happy to arrange it. He is also now teching online classes so I'm sure he would be willing.
