I've always had a love for sweeps or throws that catch your opponent so off guard, they go flying into the mat with no idea what just happened. Every once in a while, your opponent will become aware of his impending fate, but it's just too late to counter as the mat and his face race toward each other. I have seen De la Riva himself pull off sweeps that are seemingly simple but that make you say "What the hell was that?"
In a lot of ways Robson Moura reminds me of Master De la Riva. Both men obviously are world renowned and accomplished grapplers, but, most importantly, they are undersized competitors with innovative positioning and technique. Take a look at Robson and his reverse DLR hook and his nasty overhead sweep that lands you in prime position to finish your opponent while you mashing your leg into the side of his face and take his neck for the ride.
