THEY FLOW DIFFERENTLY ON 10TH PLANET.

10th Planet - Love it or hate it.  Eddie Bravo - Creator of everything grappling or not. Most of you out there in cyberspace usually feel very strongly one way or another. There is very little grey when it comes to loving or believing in the 10th Planet System. Unfortunately, Eddie often faces harsh criticism from high level black belts, often called a "fake" or "Not a real BJJ artist." Others follow and believe in him as if he were a grappling god among men, a developer, an innovator and the creator of everything in 10th Planet and beyond.

We've said this before, grapplers - wake up and smell the mat cleaner. Eddie is a legit BJJ black belt, an ADCC vet, and has coached countless MMA fighters. He has also developed his own style of grappling based on catch and BJJ. Yes, catch and BJJ (also including judo and sambo). What Eddie has done is think outside the box. He teaches strictly no-gi grappling and he has streamlined the teaching process and eliminated the belt system.

Regardless of what you think of the man, he has put together some of the best of the best. Check out the guys over at Train Fight Win show you a 10th Planet inspired flow drill that will take you from escaping mount, sweeping and gaining top position.

Take a breath, and utilize what is most effective and have fun. “Having no limitation as limitation”

  1. Eddie hasn't eliminated the belt system.

  2. He hasn't done away with belts. He recently gave Joe Rogan a black belt. Apart from that, this is a good post.

  3. was going to say the same as those above^^

  4. As far as I understand the belts Eddie hands out are primarily for personal use. (Unlike Luta Livre which still utilizes belts) Yes, he does give them out, but no one wears them on the mat. instead utilizes the rash/tshirt/shorts ranking approach for his system. Now some may argue that that's not eliminating the belt system but you say Berimbolo, I say Berimbola.

  5. I'd encourage ya'll to look up this clown in the posted video
==== Richard Whirley. I can tell you what you will NOT find: training, fighting, or winning. Before you point to this video as 'training' I'd ask that you question your values as to what constitutes 'training' and compare it to this oaf and his poorly executed techniques.

  6. Anon we appreciate your enthusiasm and passion for grappling. While we don't reference Mr. Whirley's video as training, his site is indeed named Train, Fight, Win. It also states he is bilingual. Now I can neither confirm or deny his
Training, Fighting, Winning or linguistic proficiency, but it seems as if he's done at least one of them for an undetermined length of time.

Now despite Richard's semi-amusing last name, grainy video and portly stature, he has put out quite a few
interesting and useful videos over the past five years. This one in particular has a great flow that anyone (regardless of experience) could utilize. If you are a grappling fan, enthusiast or even a practitioner of the 10th Planet system you can appreciate this offensive and defense flow drill.

We welcome all of our viewers and grappling fans to participate - and if you think you can make a tutorial that is superior, we will surely give you a loud Muito Bom! And if it's actually really good, we might even write about it or give it well deserved props.

    1. Just to be clear the guys at Train, Fight, Win have NO connection or association with 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu. Please don't refrence them together.

    3. I agree with Demolisher on this one. I don't know if the guy has ever made claims that he's the best around or that anyone will ever keep him down but he does make some interesting videos. Give the man a break.

  7. If I had a dollar for everytime a chubby or overtly skinny blue belt has shown me a cool technique he has made his own.... Just because someone isnt a name brand grappler doesnt mean you cant learn from them. Props to DSG for finding unusual videos I havent seen....

    1. And, thank you for the props! We try.

My opinion - you don't have to be a name brand to show legit and good technique.
