TIM TEBOW TRAINS WITH THE GRACIES SO SAYS TMZ, BUT SHOULD WE CARE?
Answer: Not really.
OK. I'll temper that with the following, but this is as far as I'll go: It's good to see that a mainstream athlete like Tim Tebow has started training Jiu Jitsu. It's great for him to have found such an amazing sport, fighting style and way of life. And, it's, of course, only good for the art/sport of BJJ to get this kind of exposure. Certainly, putting a famous name with BJJ can only help increases its popularity. So, overall - a positive thing.
That's as far as we'll go. We'll leave the rest to TMZ.
Side Note: If you read the very brief TMZ "story," you may find it funny, as I did, that BJJ is still, after all these years, being described as "special form of Brazilian jiu-jitsu created by [Royce's] father, Helio Gracie." Of course, there is a lot of truth in that statement, but it's not completely true. It's also interesting to see that the mainstream media continues to references Royce Gracie as the face of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We have a long way to go, grapplers.
