Imagine this - you're kind of a badass in the world of Mexican BJJ. You know, you like to think you dominate your turf. All your students come to watch you kill it at the Mexico Open. And, then Tererê shows up and ruins it all. And, now you're just some dude in his next HL video.
Tererê's a had storied career and a checkered past. Still., he's one of the most charismatic athletes to compete at the world class level of Jiu Jitsu and arguably one of the best ever . We've been hyped a couple of times over the past few years about his return to compete at the Worlds, but it hasn't materialized. So, it's great to see him show up, seemingly out of nowhere, to compete in this regional tournament.
This all reminds me of a little pearl of wisdom from the grandmaster himself, Helio, who I believe once said "If ever you face off against a man (in mortal combat) who has his own signature kimono, you're pretty much f^ked." Again and as always I'm paraphrasing and my sources are suspect.
