THE LOTUS MAY NOT BE SO PEACEFUL.

Lotus is the name of an indie pop electronic jam band that you probably never heard of; it's also a flower that is admired in indochinese cultures for its beauty and purity. But who cares about that - today the Lotus is a bad ass footlock brought to us by the guys over at Big John McCarthy's Ultimate Training Center.

Countering a counter is always a pain in the ass, but it's an essential part of submission grappling and BJJ. Today, you are going to learn how to counter you opponents kneebar defense and soon enough you'll grabbing legs quicker than Paul Harris at KFC ADCC.

So how does all this work? Well the Lotus, despite it's feminine name is anything but that. So turn your opponents frustrating kneebar defense into an innovative toehold that will leave your them in beautiful agony.

  1. The kneebar is cool, but as I'm something less than a brown belt not so immediately useful. I really like the fancypants guard pass though. Totally worth watching, or at least skipping ahead to the second half of the video.

  2. Please tell me you didn't just call Lotus an indie pop band!

Love the technique and normally enjoy the interesting/humorous commentary but please do a little more research before disgracing such an awesome band with such an unfitting label..
