If you take away the Gracie infomercial aspect and the often laughably poor production value for those not lucky enough to actually be there, it was a pretty sweet deal. Still broke my heart to see all those empty seats...
Perhaps there is just SO much Jiu-Jitsu in SoCal that even an event like this failed to generate that much buzz? We only have a few tournaments a year in my state and I feel like our once a year state-level event generates as many spectators as Metamoris did, haha.
Hey, honestly, I will buy that stream multipal times a year if they can put on great matches. Obviously they need some practice with the general production, but it was super amazing to see the matches. So, perhaps next time keep it small and make all the money on straight downloads!

ReplyDeleteYeah, the internet has been boiling since we heard of this event, and the locals fail to show up - on a sunday!? Argh. :-(
ReplyDeleteI too was amazed how few people were there. Still, POST PICS SOON PLZ!

ReplyDeletelow turnout was due to (overly) expensive ticket prices tickets and the lower cost and convenience of streaming online
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind though, even the ring side seats were very thrifty compared to the UFC, something I'd consider a comparable event...
