BATTLES: COPA PODIO HEAVYWEIGHT GRAND PRIX 2013.

Hate to be a spoiler, but, yeah, Rodolfo killed it at the Copa Podio Heavyweight Grand Prix professional tournament that went down yesterday in Rio, Brasil.  If you elected to watch the NFL playoffs and drink beer, then you may have succeeded at being an average American, but you failed in your grappling duties and only bring shame upon yourself.

Your punishment is simple.  You are now forced to watch the most hack-jobbed bootleg YouTube videos we could find.  Is it at all complete?  No.  Does it in anyway give you the sense of the splendor that is Copa Podio?  Not really.  But, it's still relatively cool.

Here's a list of the twn competitors:
Alexandre de Souza (Gracie Floripa - Florianópolis - Brazil)
Alexandro Ceconi (Ceconi Team - Criciúma - Brazil)
Braga Neto (Gordo JJ - Porto Velho - Brazil)
Bruno Bastos (Nova União - USA)
Keenan Cornelius (Team Lloyd Irvin - USA)
João Gabriel Rocha (Soul Fighters - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil)
Léo Nogueira (Alliance - São Paulo - Brazil)
Lúcio Rodrigues "Lagarto" (Gracie Barra - Londres - UK)
Rodolfo Vieira (GFTeam - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil)
Xande Ribeiro (Ribeiro JJ - Los Angeles - USA)
The rules for the CP are very interesting:  in the initial rounds, each fighter competed against each of the other (in 6 minutes matches), with points awarded for win (3), draw (2) and loss (zilch).  There are cutoffs for semi-finals and finals.  Rodolfo Vieira faced Alexandre de Souza in the semis and Léo Nogueira faced Braga Neto.  In the finals, it was Rodolfo vs. Nogueira.  Rodolfo won 3 advantages to 1 in a tough and close match.  For a solid rundown of each round and match, check out GracieMag's (an event sponsor) write up here.

Here's what we could scrounge from the dregs of YouTube:

RODOLFO VS. XANDE

RODOLFO VS. KEENAN

XANDE VS. KEENAN

NOGUERIA (LEO) VS. KEENAN [Warning:  This video quality is terrible.]
