The more I watch BJJ competition, the less I notice basic positions utilized - for example the mount. Now it's been rather hard to pin down (no pun intended) to why this is. Could be because that it's just to hard to find and then maintain such positions on other high level athletes. Another theory may be that the sport has continued to evolve to a place where mount is more of a transition rather than end point.
Regardless of the reasons, mount is one of the strongest and most variable positions in grappling, and because of that we suggest you learn how to get there.
Today Jeremy Arel shows us how to use a mount technique that makes life just a bit more sucky for opponent. For those of you adept or learned in the ways of grappling you'll recognize this mount variation from our distant cousin - Judo and it is heavily used within or on the 10th Planet as well.
So get hip to the moves that will lead to a deadly mount with Jeremy Arel and his Hip Bind technique.
