IBJJF WORLDS JUST HAPPENED AND THE BATTLES WERE GLORIOUS.
Maybe you're one of those guys who trains BJJ who also says he couldn't care less about pro-level BJJ competition. Or maybe you know that guy. He's the one who acts all confused when you make mention of a match-up involving the likes of Rafa Mendes or Rodolfo Vieira. He says something like "Oh, I don't have time to watch tournaments and keep up with that stuff. I just like training." We slap guys like that in the face (figuratively, of course). And, then we grab them by the shoulders and shake the sh^t out of them until they come to their senses (actually).
We've been around for a little while now, and if you visit this site with any regularity, you know that we are big promoters and exalters of the pros. We support pro level/world class BJJ compeition for many reasons. For one, we're students of the game and fans of the best in it. We also think it's vital to the growth and advancement of our sport/martial art.
You might know where this is heading. This is the part where I berate you for missing out on watching an amazing IBJJF Worlds Black Belt Finals and then I demean you in some relatively humorous way. That's what we do here. Now, do your part and watch the few big match-ups we could find from yesterday's Worlds.
Oh, yeah: Caio is still the best really little guy/Gui Mendes lost, so some other dudes won Light Feather (they had fauxhawks)/Tanquinho beat Rafa Mendes in the biggest upset of the past couple years (up there, at least)/Lo beats Langhi/Otavio Sousa edged Calasans in a snoozer/Braulio is still world class (and still likes to do a lot of pointing when he wins)/Rodolfo is unstoppable at Heavy, but stoppable in Open/Bernardo Faria's still killin' it with that deep half guard sweep/And, Buchecha kills everyone with whatever he wants/End
RAFA MENDES X TANQUINHO
BRAULIO X GALVAO
BUCHECHA X BERNARDO FARIA
