The X-guard has been around for a long time and some may even consider it to be one of the original "Fancy Guards." The position can easily be found between half guard and open guard, and it attacks your opponents balance in a similar way as the De la Riva guard does. At some point we have all been here and we are all familiar with the pudding effect. Being on top can be a nightmare and sometimes you can foresee a face-plant in your the near future. Well grapplers, an expert in this exact subject, Emily Kwok, is here to share her first hand knowledge. Emily is a long time martial artist and one of the premiere female BJJ instructors in the U.S. She has been under the tutelage of Marcelo Garcia for many years and today both she and Stephen Kesting show us the methods for breaking down the Xguard.
