QUICK! FAKE FOR THE FOOT AND GO FOR THE PASS.
Lately we have been talking about footlocks. For some reason they strike fear in the eyes of most grapplers, much like when you lock eyes with a pitbull or the feeling you get when you realize Ricki Lake has another talkshow. Anyway, just the idea having your foot attacked freaks people out, so why not use it to your advantage. In terms of Jeet Kune Do (or those of you who fence) this method is called Progressive Indirect Attack or P.I.A. Progressive indirect attack is an uncommitted motion that forces your opponent to move in defense as you exploit the predetermined open area. In our case it's the faking for the foot attack in order to open up your passing game. It's a simple concept, but one that takes hours of mat time to master. Check out BJJ Black Belt (and former 10th Planet member) Brandon Quick demonstrate an Ankle Lock feint to a guard pass.
