WORDS OF WISDOM FROM XANDE ON COMPETITION PREP: JUST GO TO THE MOVIES AND HANG OUT WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND.

And, Xande's right (of course).  You and I both know you're not taking anyone's back at your next tournament by drilling the Kiss of the Dragon off reverse DLR for a handful of days.  Whatever skills you have a week before a tournament are not going to be expanded in the short prep period beforehand. At that point it's all about relaxation and mental preparation.

It's become a cliche, but the mantra/advice of "play your game" is completely accurate.  So many times, due to nervousness, adrenaline, inexperience and fatigue (to name a few), a grappler loses his/her mind in competition and does things he/she would never do in the gym.  And, that's the road to getting choked the f*ck out.  No one wants to go down that road, because it's sad and paved with shame.

So, kick back and tune in (because the audio is not so good) to the wisdom of Xande Ribeiro, flanked by multi-time world champ, Renato Laranja and some other guy.  And, thanks Jits Mag.
