JUDO NEWAZA LOOKS A LOT LIKE BJJ, HMMM!
Imagine a world where world class BJJ and Judo dance harmoniously on the mats. Ground work is a real thing in Judo, it may be overshadowed by the big throws we all think of when someone mentions Judo, but it's real thing. For casual Judo fans, you will more often then not see a violent armbar or nasty throw-to-choke combo than Judokas favoring going to the ground without the use of a throw. On occasion it does happen, for example Flavio Canto is one of the worlds top Judokas (of course he Brazilian) and he typically utilizes his nasty ground skills in place of big throws in competition.
Many people still think BJJ magically came to Helio Gracie in a vision, and he masterfully created the art that exists today. Sorry grapplers, that just isn't true. As grappling continues to garner more attention and notoriety, many choose to cross train or adopt techniques and methods from other styles.
