The Copa Podio tournament structure is not for the weak. It's a points based elimination tournament, like hockey or soccer (and not like NFL football or IBJJF single elimination tournaments). You gotta be mas macho at the outset to handle the pace and intensity. If Rodolfo Vieira submits you in glorious fashion in front of the whole world (including your girlfriend) in Round 1, you don't get to go home and lick your wounds and eat some açaí. You have to keep fighting. But, of course, that's good too because it gives grapplers multiples opportunities to win.
The CP heavyweight GP went down yesterday and it was pretty much the Roldolfo show. Or, maybe the Roldolfo blood-bash or massacre. Slaughter? I'm suggesting it was gnarly, unless you were Roldolfo. Now watch the final between Rodolfo and Leandro Lo (2 videos, both equally bad). Yes, the videos are horribly bootlegged, blurry and strangely angled, but we'll take what we can get.
Note: Leandro Lo is not a heavyweight. He's a middleweight, so that makes him a super badass in our book.
